Watford Cheetahs -v- Bedfordshire Blue Raiders

On the 12th July I went to the Watford Cheetahs for their last home game of the season to see them take on the Bedfordshire Blue Raiders.

The Blue Raiders ran out eventual winners in a 22 – 14 victory which wasn’t decided until late in the fourth quarter.

I like to include shots which tell the story of the game as well as just the pure action, so usually my sets will contain things like the coin toss, spectators & players on the sidelines & the refs

And I usually include a few shots of the teams shaking hands.

Garden Frog

We have a rockery in the garden which consists of a waterfall where frogs inhabit. I’m not sure how many we have but I have seen up to 4 or 5 fully grown frogs at any one time.

This little feller made an appearance yesterday & hung around long enough for me to grab the Tamron 90mm macro lens & stick it on the 5D MkII.

Shots were handheld as I lay on the patio trying to get as close as possible. The last shot was taken at a few inches distance before it hopped off onto the waterfall & disappeared into the little pond at the bottom (I say ‘pond’ it’s actually just a very large bucket).

Renault World Series 2009

On the 4th July this year I popped up to Silverstone for the annual Renault World Series day. This is a superb event for motorsport fans, especially considering it is free of charge. You can apply to Renault for free tickets & you get two days of varied racing in several different classes.

One of the highlights of the day is seeing the Formula 1 Renault from last season doing it’s stuff. It was nice to see the test driver lose it, too.

You get three classes of Renault in the F1-style of car – open wheel single seaters, the Renault Meganes & the Renault Clio Cup. There is qualifying or racing from around 9am until 5pm, almost non-stop.

Here are some shots which have been fairly radically manipulated on the computer to give them an ‘HDR’ type of look.
